The reinvigoration of my photographic journey started with this podcast that I accidentally started listening to.
By accidentally, I mean I was exclusively listening to podcasts about writing and being an entrepreneur at the time. I was determined that my calling was to be a writer … or entrepreneur, and was gathering as much information and inspiration as I could to get myself there. One of the episodes I’d been listening to ended and the first episode of this photography podcast started.
By the end of the first episode, I was hooked on the playful banter between the two hosts, Valerie and Gina, and the information! Oh the information. Photography has always interested me, but I’ve always felt overwhelmed that there was so much to learn.
My poor little brain didn’t have a starting place to begin the learning process. Yeah I know, there is so much information online about it, but still it was one of ‘those’ dreams. You know the kind? The kind that if it sits in your head as a ‘dream’, then you can never fail at it? Yeah, that’s what photography was to me until I started listening to the ’So you want to be a photographer’ podcast.
It made me realise that if I want to be a professional photographer (which I always had) then I need to make a plan and work at it. They provide small bite size chunks of many topics that give you taste and leave you wanting to find out more.
If you want to be a photographer and you don’t know where to start (or even if you do) check these lovely and knowledgeable ladies out. They share an incredible amount of info about so many photography topics, giving a great overview and starting point for you to go off on your own and learn more. Direction is exactly what I needed and exactly what I found.
What’s you’re favourite podcast and why? Let me know in the comments.
