It’s been a while between taking stocks. I’ve thought of it a few times over the past few months but haven’t bee able to find the time to sit and write (without a tiny lady climbing on me).
There’s been a lot happening in baby land. Daycare is under way, and very successful for both Mum and junior. There’s a lot of talking – counting, animal names and their noises, colours, favourite cartoons, food … anything really. This past couple of weeks she’s started making full sentences with context to the discussion. Manners are getting very good, thank you Mum is a favourite of mine.
One of the things I think is totally gorgeous, she only says the first half of many words. Her sweet little sing song voice saying clow for clouds, how for house, hor for horse (that one cracks me up). And one that she has a good stab at but just can’t quite master is rainbow. It comes out ‘meembow’. The cuteness hurts.
This past week has been rough. All of us have had the flu. Watching little miss being so sick and not being able to do anything to help is one of the most awful experiences of my life to date. Sick bubbas are just heart wrenching. I’ve been dosing up on probiotics and loving me some organic raw sauerkraut. Has it helped? I’m not sure. But I know that my gut will be thanking me. I’m surprised that Little miss has been loving the kraut too. She’s on stinky rotten old antibiotics, so I need to be sure to repopulate her gut flora with the good stuff.
Thank you Kehoes for the awesome kraut. I have a total thing for the sour flavour of fermented yums. I love it so much I should be making my own. I’ve had great intentions to. I bought a regular ol’ white cabbage and I have some purple ones in the garden that are just about ready to pick. This weekend, I’m getting my ferment on. Hold me to it, yeah?
Anyways, on with the list …

Wanting: For this blasted cough to vamoose
Looking: At the winter veg outside in our garden, that are ready to pick
Playing: I’m not so much of a player, more a reader
Deciding: Whether to work, or play with little miss
Wishing: I had time to do both

Questioning: My values about valuing myself and others
Smelling: Nothing. Too much snot (too much information?)
Wearing: Runners. They make my back feel better
Following: Not really anyone at the moment. Not reading much on RSS, pinterest, instagram or Facebook
Noticing: How little Australians like to do things for ourselves. The story behind this is that I’ve been listening to a lot podcasts with entrepreneurs (mainly american and canadian) and they have such a can do attitude. They work out how to get to where they want to be and start doing. Here there is such an attitude of ‘what’s in it for me’. No additional work goes in to it. There is a lack of planning. A lack of foresight. Even a lack of desire. We don’t know what we want, but we don’t want anyone else to have what they want either.
Knowing: I can do better
Thinking: About what I do want. I’m just not sure
Admiring: Jon Naster from Hack the Entrepreneur
Sorting: Client work
Getting: As much sun as I can. I’m pretty sure I’m short on Vitamin D after winter
Bookmarking: Recipes on pinterest
Coveting: Stay at home mamas
Disliking: The lack of regard for the vulnerable in society
Opening: Spotify, most days
Giggling: I don’t think I’ve been giggling much lately
Feeling: Tired. And coughy

Hearing: The sounds of the neighbours aviary
