It’s been a while since I last wrote. It’s been a big struggle to do much of anything this past year and a half. But I was updating the plugins on my site today and decided I needed to do something for myself this evening. The families out, so I’m here, writing a taking stock. Just because I love looking back on them. 🙂
I’ve not been painting, or sewing, or writing, or knitting. I’ve started baking and cooking again. I’ve got some ferments going – kimchi is our favourite at the moment, but not too spicy; and I’ve got a batch of kombucha that I bottle and renew every three weeks. I get out and walk the dog a lot. Spring is on the way, the wattle is out – it’s yellow all through the bush. The compost is ripe with worms and eggs.
So here is my taking stock for 25 August 2023.
Making: Fermented things – kombucha and kimchi
Cooking: Kimchi with everything, and lots of meat and protein
Drinking: Hot water, vinegar and honey; ginger and honey
Reading: Against all odds by Chuck Norris, his autobiography. What an interesting guy.
Wanting: To make money in a way that doesn’t use so much time and energy
Looking: At the spring sunshine through the office window
Playing: With AI art
Deciding: To look after myself a little better
Wishing: For a camper van to travel this beautiful country

Cringing: That people in power think they can treat their constituents like garbage
Needing: Lots of sleep
Questioning: Where my time goes

Wearing: Jeans, slippers and baggy tops
Following: Musicians on instagram
Noticing: That time feels weird right now
Knowing: That I don’t know much really
Thinking: Theres more to life than just working to pay for bills
Admiring: Those who know there’s bad things in the world but can still create a magical world
Sorting: Not my thing right now
Getting: Tired
